Colla Firth

An inlet on the east coast of the Northmavine Peninsula in the north of the Shetland Mainland, Colla Firth opens into Yell Sound 2 miles (3 km) north of Ollaberry. The A970 road passes to the west, connecting the settlements of South Collafirth, North Collafirth and Housetter. Extending to 1¼ miles (2 km) in length and a half-mile (1 km) wide, it is separated from the smaller Quey Firth by the Ness of Queyfirth. A whaling station run by the Norwegian-owned Alexandra Company operated here between 1904 and 1921.

This inlet should not be confused with another Colla Firth located 10 miles (16 km) to the southeast in Delting.
