An embayment now much altered to contain Symbister Harbour, Symbister Bay faces out into Linga Sound on the west coast of Whalsay in Shetland. The entrance has been narrowed between breakwaters which protect the harbour. A busy fishing harbour, which is home to several large deep-sea trawlers, it contains several piers, a marina and a ferry terminal.
