Loch Bee

(Loch Bi)

A large inland loch located at the north end of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Loch Bee (Gael: Loch Bi) has many small islets and is crossed by a causeway. This was originally constructed in the 18th century, but now carries the A 865 road which connects the islands of North Uist and Benbecula with South Uist. The loch is separated from the sea by flood gates opening into Loch Sheilavaig, to the southeast, and at Clachan, to the north.
