Loch Boisdale

(Loch Baghasdail)

Located in the southeast of South Uist in the Outer Hebrides, Loch Boisdale (Gael: Loch Baghasdail) forms a large sea loch with several small islands, on one of which, Calvay, stands a lighthouse and the ruined remains of a castle. It gave its name to the Royal Navy frigate HMS Loch Boisdale launched in 1944. The settlement of Lochboisdale lies at the head of the loch.
