Rossie Castle

The remains of Rossie Castle are located in E Angus, just south of Montrose Basin and less than a half-mile (1 km) west of Kirkton of Craig, on the edge of Rossie Moor. Built c.1790-1800 for the MacDonald family on the site of earlier castle, this house was largely demolished in 1949. The earlier castle, with the Barony, had belonged to the Rossie family but passed with the lands to the Scott family by 1650.
