Castle Toward

A Neo-Gothic mansion on the Cowal peninsula, Castle Toward lies at the eastern entrance to the Kyles of Bute opposite Rothesay, just over a mile (1.5 km) west of Toward Point and 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Dunoon. It was built in 1821 near the ruined castle of the Lamonts, Lords of Cowal, and now operates as an outdoor activity centre. Toward Hill rises to the north.
