Castle Lachlan

A castle on the east shore of Loch Fyne 10 miles (16 km) southwest of Inveraray, Castle Lachlan is the home of the Maclachlan chiefs. It was built c.1790 near the site of a 15th-century tower which was abandoned in favour of the new house. The old castle had been attacked by a Government warship in 1746 following the Maclachlan's support for the Jacobites, although it did little damage.
