Garron Point

A prominent headland on the North Sea Coast of Aberdeenshire, Garron Point extends into the sea 1½ miles (2.5 km) north of Stonehaven. It represents the northeastern end of the Highland Boundary Fault, making this area of considerable interest to geologists. The rock here comprises pillow lavas, black shales and cherts which were pinched up from the ocean floor between the continents which collided along the fault zone.
