West Ness

A rocky headland of Fife Council Area, West Ness lies to the south of Crail harbour. The area is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest owing its the geology. Fossil Lepidodendron tree stumps and roots, tracks of an ancient giant centipede (Arthropleura) and ripple marks are exposed amongst rocks which represent a Carboniferous delta system.
