Doon of Carsluith

A coastal hill overlooking Wigtown Bay in S Central Dumfries and Galloway, the Doon of Carsluith rises to 176m (577 feet) ¾ mile (1.2 km) east southeast of the settlement of Carsluith. The summit is occupied by the scant remains of a hill-fort, which may have includes a double rampart, where the topography did not provide an effective defence, with an entrance to the north. There is no evidence of any structures within the fort. This summit is separated from the Doon of Stroans by the Cleugh of Doons.
