Arnish Point

(Rubha Airinis, Rubha Àirinis)

Arnish Point (Gael: Rubha Àirinis) lies to the west of the entrance to Stornoway Harbour on the east coast of the Isle of Lewis in the Western Isles. A Stevenson-built lighthouse sits atop the point while a half-mile (1 km) north lies the town of Stornoway. Behind the point is the Arnish Fabrication Yard. Constructed to build large steel structures for the offshore oil and gas industry; its fortunes were revived by the renewables industry.
