Gallan Head


(An Gallan Uigeach)

A prominent headland on the west coast of Lewis in the Outer Hebrides, Gallan Head (Gael: An Gallan Uigeach) faces the Atlantic Ocean to the west of the entrance to West Loch Roag, 3 miles (5 km) north of Timsgarry. The hamlet of Aird Uig lies just below the headland and RAF Aird Uig, a NATO communications station, is located on the headland which rises steeply to 86m (282 feet).
