A summit on the border of South Lanarkshire and Dumfries & Galloway Council Areas, Whiteside Hill rises to approximately 380m (1246 feet) at the end of a ridge which extends northwest from Slough Hill in the Lowther Hills. Confusingly a hill called Whiteside is located 5 miles (8 km) southeast, while there is another Whiteside Hill 13 miles (21 km) to the southeast, both also on the boundary between South Lanarkshire and Dumfries & Galloway.
