Grindstone Rig

A partially forested hill on the border between East Ayrshire and South Lanarkshire, Grindstone Rig forms a southern shoulder of Cairn Table. It gains its name from the local stone which was used to make millstones and some partially finished stones lie abandoned nearby. The hill rises to 483m (1584 feet), 3 miles / 5 km southeast of Muirkirk.
