Morton Loch

A small loch in Nithsdale, Dumfries and Galloway, Morton Loch is the property of the Buccleuch Estates and lies 1½ miles (2.5 km) northeast of Carronbridge. Morton Castle was built on a prominent site on its southern shore but at that stage the loch was probably little more than a marsh. It was created in its current form by the building of a dam in the 18th century, and today offers recreational fishing.
