A parish and previously a district of Strathclyde Region, Eastwood lies on the southern periphery of the Glasgow conurbation, to the east of Barrhead. Now in East Renfrewshire, Eastwood remains a parliamentary constituency once regarded as the safest Conservative Party seat in Scotland, until it was lost in the 1997 General Election.
