Dunure Castle

Located near the village of Dunure in South Ayrshire, the ruins of Dunure Castle stand on a rocky outcrop looking out over the Firth of Clyde towards Arran. Predating its tower extension of the mid-15th century, the castle had further development in the 16th century and was believed to be the home of the Duke of Cassillis although it is known to have been in a ruinous condition by 1696, a condition which prevails today. To the south lies the Electric Brae.
