Carn Dearg

A mountain in the Lochaber district of Highland Council Area, Carn Dearg rises to 1020m (3346 feet) on the southwestern shoulder of Ben Nevis, 4½ miles (7 km) southeast of Fort William. The name means "red hill" in Gaelic. Confusingly, there is another more significant Carn Dearg only 1¼ miles (2 km) to the north northeast as well as a second lesser peak of the same name located 7½ miles (12 km) to the east southeast.
