Eric Liddell Centre

Situated on Morningside Road in Edinburgh at Holy Corner, so called because of the churches on all sides. The Eric Liddell Centre occupies the former North Morningside Church, which had been disused for some years. The Centre was set up in the late 1970s as a living memorial to athlete and committed Christian, Eric Liddell (1902 - 1945). It is a Christian Community Centre which provides social services to the elderly and their carers, those with mental health problems and other community groups.

The original building is by David Robertson (1879-81). It was subject to a dramatic conversion by Nicholas Groves-Raines (1992 and 1999) creating a synthesis of Neo-Norman and modern architecture. A viewing gallery permits access to an impressive collection of stained glass windows, which includes important work by John Duncan (1935) and William Wilson (1957).

Permanent displays within the centre inform visitors about Liddell's life and work.
