Located east of Strathcarron, on the border of the Ross and Cromarty and Skye and Lochalsh districts of Highland Council area, Lurg Mhor is one of the most isolated peaks in the country. Rising to a height of 987m (3238 feet), the summit of Lurg Mhor is particularly featureless, with a long level ridge from which steep cliffs fall to the north. Qualifying as a Munro, its name originates from Gaelic and means "big ridge stretching into the plain".
