Motherwell Heritage Centre

A striking example of modern architecture located on High Road in Motherwell, the North Lanarkshire Heritage Centre opened in 1996 and has won many awards for its modern facilities and displays. The work of architects Andrew Merrylees, Grierson and Robertson, the centre highlights the history of the area, its development from the Roman era through to the 19th and 20th centuries, looking at the natural, social and economic history. The galleries within the centre showcase North Lanarkshire Council's collections alongside touring exhibitions, community and arts displays, while a local history room has archival and research facilities.
