Beinn Dearg, Wester Ross

Beinn Dearg rises to a height of 1084m (3556 feet) in the Ross and Cromarty district of Highland Council Area, 6 miles (10 km) southeast of the head of Loch Broom. It lies 12 miles (19 km) southeast of Ullapool and north of Loch Glascarnoch. Qualifying as a Munro, the name Beinn Dearg is derived from the Gaelic for "red hill". The peaks of Meall nan Ceapraichean and Eididh nan Clach Geala lie to the north and Cona Mheall to the east. There is another Beinn Dearg 8 miles (13 km) to the south, although that is not a Munro.
