Caolas nan Con

(The Narrows)

A narrowing in Loch Leven, Caolas nan Con (occasionally referred to simply as The Narrows) lies to the north of a settlement of almost the same name (Caolasnacon) and 3 miles (5 km) west of Kinlochleven. The name means 'narrows of the dogs' because this was said to be a crossing place for shepherds and their dogs.
