Knockmade Hill

A summit surrounded by low crags in W Renfrewshire, Knockmade Hill rises to 190m (623 feet) a half-mile (1 km) southeast of Kaim Dam and 2 miles (3 km) north of Lochwinnoch. An ancient settlement occupies the top of the hill, comprising a large house and hut circles within an enclosure. The site was excavated 1959-60, with finds including hammer-stones and a piece of jewellery.
