HM Prison Polmont is located at Polmont, near Falkirk in central Scotland, and is Scotland's largest young offenders institution. Its provides secure custody for all male young offenders between the ages of 16 and 21 years. Young offenders are assessed as to their suitability for transfer to HM Prison Glenochil or HM Prison Dumfries. Those serving sentences less than six years are retained at Polmont, while those serving 6 years or over are likely to be transferred to HM Young Offender's Institution Dumfries.
