Daer Reservoir

A sizeable reservoir retained by an earth embankment dam located in the Lowther Hills of South Lanarkshire, the Daer Reservoir lies on the Daer Water, a tributary of the River Clyde, 7 miles (11 km) west northwest of Moffat and 10½ miles (17 km) northeast of Thornhill in Dumfries and Galloway. Opened in 1980 for the supply of drinking-water, it is now operated by Scottish Water and extends to area of 186 ha (459 acres).
