Bardowie Loch is situated 2 miles (3 km) southeast of Milngavie and 6 miles (10 km) north of the City of Glasgow, within East Dunbartonshire. To the southeast of the loch is the settlement of Bardowie and on its north shore is Bardowie Castle.
The Antonine Wall passes a mile (1.5 km) to the south.
