Ben Klibreck

(Ben Clebrig, Beinn Cleith Bric)

A mountain massif set amidst the Sutherland moors, to the south of Tongue in Highland Council Area, Ben Klibreck (occasionally Ben Clebrig, Gael: Beinn Cleith Bric) rises to a height of 962m (3156 feet) forming a prominence on an otherwise featureless landscape. Ben Klibreck qualifies as a Munro and there are three tops on its summit ridge, Meall nan Con, to the south of Loch Naver, is the highest, with Meall Meadhonach and then Meall Ailein lying to the northeast. The principal summit is marked by an Ordnance Survey triangulation pillar. The northern flank is steep in contrast to the southeastern flank which consists of grassy corries. Its name is derived from the Gaelic for "hill of the speckled cliff". The Klibreck Burn flows north to join the loch just east of the mountain at its western end.
