Loch na Lairige Reservoir, Ben Lawers and Ben Glas from the Tarmachan Ridge

A reservoir in W Perth and Kinross, Lochan na Lairige is located between Beinn Ghlas and Meall nan Tarmachan, 3 miles (5 km) north of Loch Tay and 4 miles (6.5 km) north northeast of Killin. It is 1¼ miles (2 km) in length and a quarter-mile (0.4 km) in width. Retained by Lawers Dam, which is a massive buttress dam completed in 1956, 344m (1128 feet) long and 42m (138 feet) high. The loch provides water through pipelines and a tunnel to Finlarig Power Station on the north shore of Loch Tay, which is part of the Breadalbane Hydro-Electric Power Scheme. The reservoir also provides fishing for brown trout.
