St Ninian's Cave

A cave near Physgill at the southern end of the Machars of Dumfries and Galloway, St Ninian's Cave is said to have been used by the early Christian missionary St Ninian as a devotional retreat. Incised crosses on the rock face suggest that the site has been venerated by pilgrims since the 8th Century.
