A mediaeval earthwork in Dumfries and Galloway, the Motte of Urr lies on the Urr Water to the northwest of Dalbeattie. Dating from the 12th Century, it covers an area of about 2 ha (5 acres) and has been described as one of the most impressive motte-and-bailey castle sites in Scotland.
