The Raiders Road

The Raiders Road is the name given to a 10 mile (16 km) forestry road in Dumfries and Galloway that links the Queen's Way (A712 road) with the A762 near Mossdale. The route runs along the north bank of the Black Water of Dee, within the Galloway Forest Park, and was popularised by the writer S.R. Crockett in his novel 'The Raiders', a story of cattle rustling and Border intrigue. It is maintained by Forestry and Land Scotland and a toll is charged to drive along it.
