Birrens

The site of a Roman fort in Dumfries and Galloway, Birrens lies to the southeast of Lockerbie, just north of the Mein Water. Dating from the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, it was in 1895 the first Roman fort in Scotland to be extensively excavated.
