Cunninghame

One of the ancient divisions of Ayrshire, Cunningham extends over the greater part of North Ayrshire, together with parts of East and South Ayrshire. In the 12th-13th centuries the De Morville family, High Constables of Scotland, held most of this land which is watered by the Rye, Caaf, Dusk, Garnock, Lugton and Annick. From 1975 to 1996 Cunninghame formed a district of Strathclyde Region.
