Cuillin Ridge

The Cuillin Ridge represents a continuous line of twenty-two summits within the Black Cuillin of S Central Skye. The ridge stretches for 7½ miles (12 km) and is regarded by many as the finest climb in Britain and one of the longest in Europe. With over 4000m (13,000 feet) of ascent, it represents a considerable mountaineering challenge. The highest point is Sgurr Alasdair (992m / 3255 feet).

The main ridge lies to the west of Glen Sligachan and comprises the classic route known as the Great Traverse, with eleven of Skye's twelve Munros. The ridge continues on the opposite side of Glen Sligachan with the eastern Black Cuillin to finish over Clach Glas and Blaven (928m / 3044 feet; the twelfth Munro).
