Firrhill

A small district of S Edinburgh, Firrhill (once Firhill) lies to the south of Wester Craiglockhart Hill and to the north of Colinton Mains, 4 miles (6 km) south southwest of the city centre. It takes its name from a hill of the same name, which rises to 148m (485 feet). Three schools are located here on a shared campus; Firrhill High (1959, extended 1970 and refurbished 2004), Oxgangs Primary (2005) and Braidburn Special School (2005). The former City Hospital (1903) lies to the north, now redeveloped for housing as Greenbank Village.
