One of the Monach or Heisker in the Western Isles, Ceann Iar lies 8 miles (13 km) southwest of Aird an Runair, on the west coast of North Uist. It is one of three uninhabited islands connected at low tide by sandbanks, the others being Ceann Ear and Shivinish. The island reaches a high point of 19m (62 feet).
