Ariundle

A National Nature Reserve in the Sunart district of SW Highland Council Area, Ariundle lies to the west of Strontian. It is the focal point of the Sunart Oakwoods Project, a scheme to regenerate the original native broadleaved woodland. Until 1920 Ariundle was part of the Sunart Estate owned by the Riddell family. It was acquired by the Forestry Commission and largely given over to the planting of commercial conifers until 1997 when the emphasis changed to conservation. It is now managed by Forestry and Land Scotland.
