North Skerry is one of the largest of the Ve Skerries on the outer margins of St. Magnus Bay, to the west of the Mainland of Shetland, and 3¾ miles (6 km) northwest of Papa Stour. Rising to 7m (22 feet), the island has the distinctive shape of a thumbs-up emerging from a clenched fist.
