Traigh Ear

(TrĂ igh Ear)

A wide expanse of firm sand on the east coast of the Grenitote Peninsula in North Uist (Western Isles), Traigh Ear (literally 'east beach') faces the island of Oronsay, a half-mile (1 km) north of Grenitote. It is semi-enclosed by a long finger of sand known as Corran Aird a' Mhorain. The tide sweeps in quickly across the sand, making it dangerous to walk far from the shore.
