Overview of Inverness Leisure Centre and Aquadome

A large sports complex situated in Bught Park, 1¼ miles (2 km) south southwest of the city centre, Inverness Leisure Centre and Aquadome is the most significant sport facility in the Highlands.

Two halls provide flexible venues for football, badminton, martial arts, bowls, gymnastics, exhibitions and many other activities. The larger measures 42m (138 feet) by 32m (105 feet) and includes moveable seating for 660. The smaller includes a 24-m (79-foot) long climbing wall, some 10m (33 feet) in height, and a lower bouldering wall. There is also an indoor athletics training area, gymnasium and an exercise studio.

Opened in 1997, the aquadome includes an 8-lane 25m (27 yard) competition pool, together with leisure facilities such as a wave pool, river rapids, flume rides, toddler's pool, spa pool and an outdoor pool. A spa facility comprises a sauna, steam room and sun beds

Adjacent is the Queens Park Athletics Stadium which offers a 400m, 8-lane synthetic all-weather track, and seating for 300 spectators. The stadium is fully equipped for athletics training and competition, including floodlighting, photo finish and public address systems. The stadium also provides a large outdoor activity area.

The centre has about 650,000 visitors annually. Run by Caledonia Community Leisure Limited, a publicly-owned charitable company, it is managed in association with the many sports clubs who use the facilities. A Combined Heat and Power (CHP) unit ensures efficient use of energy.

The Inverness Ice Centre and Floral Hall botanic garden lie adjacent.
