Annandale Water

A lochan located between the M74 motorway and the River Annan a quarter-mile (0.5 km) northeast of Johnstonebridge in NE Dumfries and Galloway, the Annandale Water contains a small island and supports a wildfowl population which includes mute swans, geese and mallard ducks, together with an occasional osprey fishing. Now incorporated within the site of a motorway service area, which takes its name from the lochan, it is overlooked by a Days Inn motel and includes wooden walkways.
