North Bridge Arcade

A covered Victorian shopping arcade, linking North Bridge with Cockburn Street in the centre of Edinburgh, the North Bridge Arcade is important because it is one of only five such structures remaining in Scotland. Built in 1900, as part of the development which brought the Scotsman building (now the Scotsman Hotel) into being, the Arcade in now part of an A-listed group and features original shop-fronts with bowed plate glass. There are coffered ceilings and a central dome with a lantern and original stained glass.
