Minsca Wind Farm

A medium-sized wind farm in E Dumfries and Galloway, Minsca occupies the area around Risp Hill, 2 miles (3 km) east southeast of Bankshill. The site has been operational since June 2008 and comprises 16 Siemens turbines each producing 2.3 MW of power, giving a total installed capacity of 36.8 MW. Along with Dalswinton Wind Farm, Minsca was officially opened by Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism, Jim Mather, on 28th October 2008, who commented that these developments took Scotland to more than three gigawatts of installed capacity. Developed by Airtricity, who were taken over by Scottish and Southern Energy just as the farm was being completed, both Minsca and Dalswinton Wind Farms were bought by the Northampton-based Infinis energy group in April 2011.
