Located to the southwest of the town centre, the harbour was the centre of Arbroath's economy for many years. Fishing was the economic mainstay for the population before the European dictated fishing quotas were introduced. The town is famed for its 'Arbroath Smokies', haddock that is smoked over wood-chip fires.
