The newest of a remarkable network of leisure centres operated by the Shetland Recreational Trust, built with funds generated by the oil industry, the West Mainland Leisure Centre is located in Aith, next to the marina. Opened on 7th September 2002, it includes a 16.7m (55 foot) three-lane swimming pool, separate toddler's pool and spa pool, multi-purpose games hall, squash court, fitness suite, steam room and community meeting room. The centre was built with funds from the Shetland Charitable Trust that was responsible for distributing the so-called Disturbance Receipts, intended to compensate the people of Shetland for siting the oil terminal at Sullom Voe.
Aith Junior High School and Aith Public Hall are to be found nearby.
