Fetteresso Forest

An extensive plantation woodland in S Aberdeenshire, Fetteresso Forest extends to approximately 3600 ha (8895 acres) 6 miles (10 km) west of Stonehaven. This is a commercial forest producing conifer logs for uses including pulp and paper, construction and general joinery timber, pallets, carcassing, chipboard and fibreboard. Fetteresso is also important recreationally, with forest walks, trails and several mountain biking routes, accessible from principal car parks at Swanley and Three Stones, together with a smaller entrance at Quithel. Three rights-of-way cross the forest, following the old Mounth roads. Wildlife includes deer, foxes and various bird of prey, together with smaller birds and animals such as voles and treecreepers.

Fetteresso is linked to the smaller Drumtochty Forest in the southwest and Durris Forest in the northeast.
