Viking Bus Station

A distinctive building located at the eastern end of Commercial Road, overlooking Lerwick Harbour, the Viking Bus Station serves as the hub for all rural bus services in Shetland, providing waiting, luggage and freight-storage facilities. Opened in 1991, it was the work of local firm PJP Architects. A rubble wall rises to a glass-fronted two-storey building, with a verandah surrounding a projecting octagonal block, featuring distinctive red and white railings. The upper floor is occupied by a Chinese restaurant. The building has a red pantiled roof.
