Toll Clock Shopping Centre

Located on North Road in Lerwick, the Toll Clock Shopping Centre represents the only indoor shopping complex in Shetland. Painted bright red and looking more like a connected series of warehouse sheds, this small shopping centre comprises 30 units let to local businesses, with a remarkable lack of chain-stores. The centre takes its name from the landmark clock tower, dating from 1825, which once adorned the Old Tolbooth in the town centre. The clock tower was erected here in 1965.

The centre is operated by Bolts Shetland Ltd., a family-run company that has been in business since 1950. They run homeware, electrical and car-hire businesses, and a minimarket, from within the Toll Clock Shopping Centre. The centre is one of the larger private-sector users of the Lerwick District Heating Scheme.
