The Booth

(East Shore Booth)

A picturesque artist's retreat and studio on New Street overlooking Scalloway Harbour, The Booth (or East Shore Booth) represents a reconstruction of a dilapidated fisherman's store, said to be the oldest building in Scalloway (Shetland). The award-winning project by Scalloway Waterfront Trust in 2001 has provided a smart little building, distinctively-painted in powder-blue with mauve shutters. Visiting artists can stay at The Booth for a month, occupying the comfortable but compact living space in the upper level while using the rubble-walled basement as a studio. The basement gives access to a paved terrace overlooking the sea.

The building is managed by Glasgow-based Wasps Studios in partnership with Shetland Arts Trust.
